Visual Aids Unit

The first Partnership 16mm film was created in 1960, but it was not until 1969 that the use of moving images was understood to be an aid to staff training. “A Career in Retailing” was shot in various branches by a new Visual Aids Unit, set up at the Management Training Centre at Odney.

Run by Don Chapman it produced a number of films including “Missing Presumed Stolen” and “Our Kind of Business” during the 1970s and 80s, costing around £2000 each against a commercial cost of around £8000.  However, as technology changed it was decided to look outside the business and the Unit was closed.
