Memorabilia

Prior to joining John Lewis I was in the W.R.N.S for six years.  I joined in 1972 and it was before we were allowed to wear black tights.  We had to buy suspenders and I found some in JL Oxford Street at 8p per pack.  Soon after this purchase in 1972 we were then allowed to wear tights so consequently these suspenders were never used.They did travel around with me in the Navy visiting HMS Victory Portsmouth, HMS St Angelo Malta, HMS Mercury Nr Petersfield, HMS Heron Yeovilton Somerset, and endings their service at RNH Haslar Portsmouth.   They then were put into my naval suitcase and lived in either sheds or garages.
